22 Jul 2007 - Lions 8 V Beeston Juniors B 7 - Match report

The Lions rounded off their season with a friendly against Beeston Juniors B. Lions were without goal keeper Dominic Maskill (Shaw donned the goalie shirt in the first half and Waldron in the second) and it was their first game without Sam Capitano. Beeston, in turn, could muster only ten men, but both sides put in good performances to provide a close and entertaining match. Despite their lack of players, Beeston took the lead. Lions had a number of chances but were denied by some excellent saves from the Beeston keeper. By half time Beeston were ahead 5-1 which inlcuded a well taken free kick, Bilbey had pulled one back for the Lions from a rebound.

The Lions responded in the second half with early goals and as Beeston tired the Lions took advantage of this to run out 8-7 winners. Beeston however could never be written off and despite fatigue chased the game to the final whistle.
